The furniture frames are made from aluminium, which is powder-coated to make it weather and rust resistant. Wood has long been a favoured material for garden furniture due to its durability and ability to withstand any weather condition. Whether exposed to intense sunlight, heavy downpours or ice and snow, wooden furniture remains resiliant. Its natural strength, combined with care and maintenance, ensures longevity. When caring for wooden furniture you have two options. Wooden furniture can be left alone and will age and mellow to a silver tone. Alongside this, the furniture will split and get fine cracks in the grain. None of these affect the integrity or strength of the product, it is purely aesthetic. Alternatively, you can choose to treat and maintain the wood. There are many different ways to treat wooden furniture and we would always advise you to check with the manufacturer's instructions before doing so. Teak shield is to be used after treating the wood and acts as a protective layer against dirt and water. There are treatments available which can alter the colour of the wood; for example you can find treatments which will treat the wood with a grey wash. You can also use a teak cleaner to help with any stubborn stains such as bird droppings or rotting leaves. If absolutely necessary you could sand the wood to remove the top layer. Furniture covers are available however we would advise against it. This is because when you cover wooden furniture it will begin to sweat and this can cause black spots. If you do decide to cover the furniture we recommend that you air this once a week. There are two main types of wood used when crafting outdoor furniture: acacia and teak. Teak is the most popular choice, and it is used by manufacturers like 4 Seasons Outdoor and Bramblecrest. Teak is a premium wood and it is highly weather resistant. Teak is known for its longevity and over time will age to a mellow silver tone. Teak is a tropical hardwood and is naturally adapted to warmer climates and moist temperatures. The natural oils present in the wood make it resistant to UV rays. Acacia is a strong and hardwearing wood and is more budget-friendly than teak. Acacia wood is naturally water-resistant, rot resistant and antimicrobial.
